Samdech Bun Rany Hun Sen Pays Tribute to Fallen Soldier, Offers Support to Family in Kampong Thom
Kampong Thom Province, August 8 — Samdech Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Red Cross, paid her respects today to Major Bou Pho, a soldier of the Intervention Brigade No. 8, Intervention Division No. 3, who was killed in the line of duty while defending Cambodia’s sovereignty.
The funeral ceremony was held at the late soldier’s family home in Veal Tauch Village, Andoung Po Commune, Tangkork District. During the somber occasion, Bun Rany Hun Sen, accompanied by members of the Cambodian Red Cross, expressed her deepest condolences to Major Bou Pho’s family.
In her speech, she highlighted the soldier’s dedication and patriotism. “Major Bou Pho was a devoted husband, father, and officer who dedicated his life to serving the nation, religion, and the King,” she said. “His commitment to safeguarding our sovereignty and maintaining peace reflects his noble character and unwavering patriotism.”
Samdech Bun Rany Hun Sen offered a prayer for the soul of Major Bou Pho, wishing him eternal peace and hoping he would be reborn in a blessed realm.
In addition to her condolences, she provided the family with funeral supplies and financial support. Donations included 100 kilograms of rice, 10 cases of instant noodles, canned fish, 10 cases of soft drinks, and 20 million Riel (approximately $5,000) in cash to assist with funeral expenses.
This visit follows a broader initiative by the Cambodian Red Cross under Samdech Bun Rany Hun Sen’s leadership, which has dispatched delegations across the country to pay tribute to fallen soldiers participating in recent funeral ceremonies. The organization continues to honor those who sacrificed their lives defending Cambodia’s sovereignty and national security.
